Built in the 1800s as the Old Bank Chambers, the Grade II listed building stood derelict for over a decade and was left to become in a state of disrepair until bought in 2015 by The Auckland Trust.
Redfern Building Services Ltd were employed by the Trust to undertake a full refurbishment with the plan of turning the building into a Mining Art Gallery.
The Gallery is the Auckland Trust's first completed project as part of the Trust's vision to regenerate Bishop Auckland and the surrounding area. Since opening its doors in October 2017, the gallery has been a great success.
